HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

Beverly Newhall
Resident, Huntington Beach

Beverly Newhall is a longtime resident of Huntington Beach, California, and has been involved in the Huntington Beach Police Department’s Police Service Dog Program for the past 10 years. She has purchased seven service dogs for the Department in addition to vital equipment.

Ms. Newhall approached the Department years ago with an offer to get involved with the Police Service Dog Program and give financial support in any way possible. Each one of these service dogs can cost up to $10,000, including training. Her efforts have kept these dogs in patrol during tough financial times when the program faced personnel cuts. If not for her involvement over the years, the program would have suffered the cut of at least two of the four canines.

Ms. Newhall is very humble and would never ask for recognition for her generosity. She is truly passionate about the value and importance of service dogs in police work and has been a great asset to the Department. Her humanitarian efforts have been spread across a 10-year period, and she has never asked for anything in return.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Ms. Newhall and her involvement is the fact that she is 95 years old! She has dedicated her passion and a great deal of money to keeping police service dogs on the streets of Huntington Beach. The citizens of Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Police Department are grateful for her selfless contributions.
